Have you found the perfect pattern for a project — but the colours aren’t quite right for your client’s scheme?

Or perhaps you love the design, but the scale doesn’t work for the room, the furniture, the curtains or the bedding you have planned?

Maybe the pattern orientation isn’t ideal for an upholstered chair, a headboard or a particular wall — and rotating the design would make much more sense for your project?

These are exactly the kinds of challenges my customization service is designed to solve.

Instead of compromising on a pattern you love, you can request adjustments to make it work more precisely with your interior design concept.

Your favourite pattern in your project’s colour palette

You’ve found a pattern that fits your concept perfectly — but the colours don’t quite work with your project.

Perhaps your client has a very specific colour palette, or you need the pattern to coordinate with paint, furniture, textiles or other elements already selected for the room.

Send me the hex codes of your preferred colours and I can recolour the pattern for you.

Change colours.

For an interior design project, this can be particularly useful when you have a strong colour direction but haven’t found the right pattern in exactly those colours.

What is a hex code?

A hex code is a six-digit combination of letters and numbers used to represent a specific colour in digital design.

For example:

Deep black = #000000

Bright white = #FFFFFF

Hex codes make it possible to communicate an exact colour rather than relying on descriptions such as “warm yellow” or “soft green”.

How to find the hex code of your project colours

Finding a hex code is easier than you might think.

Online colour tools allow you to select a colour and retrieve its exact hex code. Popular options include Coolors and ColorHexa.

You can use these tools to identify the colours you want to use in your project and then send the hex codes to me via the alteration request form.

Your favourite pattern is too big or too small for your project?

Finding a pattern you love is only the first step.

A design that looks fantastic across a large wallpapered wall might feel completely different when used on a cushion, curtain or upholstered chair.

Likewise, a pattern that works beautifully on a smaller piece of furniture may lose its impact when enlarged across a feature wall.

Instead of compromising on a design simply because the original scale isn’t right, you can request a different scale for your project.

Whether you need the pattern to work across a large wall, a piece of upholstery, curtains, bedding or another interior application, tell me how you would like the design to be resized in the alteration request form.

Save material and get the orientation right by rotating the design

Sometimes the direction of a pattern matters just as much as its colour and scale.

This can be especially important when you are working with upholstery, curtains, bedding or other applications where the orientation of the design affects the finished result.

Upholstered chair where the bold pink, yellow and orange flowers with stems and leaves direct into the wrong direction from left to right, instead upwards.

Rotating a pattern can also help you use your fabric more efficiently, depending on the dimensions and construction of your project.

If you have a specific direction in mind, simply use the alteration request form to tell me which angle you would like the pattern rotated.

And now, find YOUR favourite design in my Spoonflower shop!

And you know, if there’s anything else that needs to be adjusted to tailor the design to your very own project, there’s always the alteration request form!

A pattern collection that fits your design concept

Finding the right pattern is only part of creating a cohesive interior. You also need complementary designs that work alongside it — and finding those can take just as much time.

That’s why I create my patterns in collections.

Each collection includes a hero pattern, complementary blender patterns and textured solids based on the colours used throughout the collection.

This gives you a ready-made palette of patterns that are designed to work together. Instead of searching for a statement pattern, then spending hours looking for coordinating stripes, geometrics, textures or solids, you can simply choose from the same collection.

One collection can give you the building blocks for an entire room — or even several rooms within a family home.

And if you find a pattern you love but need it in a slightly different colour, scale or orientation, you can combine the collection with my customization service to make it work even more precisely for your project.
